Bass management --speaker selection: Surround sound electronics provides adjustments or menus that permit the listener to direct bass signals to specific channels for the best effect. Generally, with all surround systems, the center channel mode should be set to SMALL. This setting will divert low bass to the front left and right speakers (which typically have greater bass capability than the center speaker) and will result in the greatest total system bass output. Also, if your system includes separate subwoofers, the SMALL setting ensures that the subwoofers will receive the most bass under all conditions. Bass management -- crossover frequency selection: Some surround sound electronics provides a choice of crossover frequencies (the frequency below which bass is diverted to the left, right, or subwoofer speakers).
