[. . . ] To answer the outside call and end the intercom call: Press the PHONE button briefly OR, to answer the outside call and put the intercom call on hold (so you can later use shuttle, conference or transfer): Press the INT/# button for one second If you now want to set up a three-way conference, simply press and hold the INT/# button for one second. To stop the ringing before 20 seconds: EITHER press the HANDSET LOCATOR button again OR press any button on any handset. 28 Answering machine setup Answering machine setup The telephone is supplied with the answering machine switched on and set up to automatically answer a call after five rings. It will play a predefined message and will allow the caller to leave a message if they desire. There are a number of settings that can be adjusted to personalise the telephone's operation to suit your needs. The telephone The telephone has two answering modes, Answer Only mode and Answ& Rec. mode is switched on by default and will remain on unless you change mode. To change answering mode: 1 Press the MENU/OK button ONCE then the á button ONCE è Display Shows Main Menu >Answ Machine 2 Press the MENU/OK button once then the â button THREE times è Display Shows Answ. Mode >Answ. & Rec. 3 4 Press the á â buttons to select the new mode and then MENU/OK to confirm è Display Shows Select mess >Predefined Turn to page 30 to set up the outgoing message 5 Help Line: 0845 671 0665 (Local Call rate) 29 Answering machine setup The outgoing message The telephone is supplied with two predefined outgoing messages (OGM). One is for use in ANSWER ONLY mode and one for use in Answer & Rec. mode. Both of these can be replaced with your own prerecorded message if you prefer. To pre-record an outgoing message you must first follow the procedure to set the answer mode After setting the answer mode you can choose between using a predefined outgoing message or using a personalised one that you have recorded. If you select Personalised you will then need to record a new message. To record a new outgoing message: 1 2 Follow steps 1 to 5 on page 29 è Display Shows Select mess >Predefined Press the â button to select Personalised and press the MENU/OK button è Display shows >Play message Press the MENU/OK button to play the existing message Press the â button and the MENU/OK button to record a new message è Display Shows > Record mess Speak clearly into the handset Press the MENU/OK button to end the recording. è Display Shows Select mess>Personalised If you are not happy with the result, repeat steps 2. Use the CANCEL button to exit the menu 3 4 5 6 7 8 30 Answering machine setup Setting the ring delay You can adjust the number of rings that sound before the machine answers the call: 1 Press the MENU/OK button ONCE then the á button ONCE è Display Shows Main Menu >Ans Machine Press the MENU/OK button ONCE then the â button FIVE times è Display Shows Ans Machine >Settings Press the MENU/OK button è Display Shows Settings >Ring Press the MENU/OK button è Display Shows Ring Delay >5 Delay 2 3 4 5 rings Use the á â buttons to adjust the ring delay between 3 and 8 rings or Toll Saver If you select Toll Saver the telephone will answer after 3 rings, if there are new messages on the answering machine, but after 5 rings if there are no new messages. This allows you to call from a remote telephone to check your messages, and if it does not answer after 3 rings, you know there are new messages, so you can hang up without being charged for the call. 6 7 Press the MENU/OK button to confirm the new setting Use the CANCEL button to exit the menu or press and hold HANG UP to go to standby mode Help Line: 0845 671 0665 (Local Call rate) 31 Answering machine setup Call Screening The call screening function allows you to listen to incoming messages as they are recorded so you can decide if you would like to take the call. When call screening is switched on using the menu below, if the handset displays. "'ICM Recording'. When the answering machine is recording a message the handset will display ICM recording.
