Pass the booklet on to whoever might acquire the appliance at a future date. -1- ELECTRIC KNIFE KH 550 Intended use The electric knife is suitable for cutting various types of foodstuff. It is intended for domestic use only, not for commercial applications. Safety notes To avoid potentially fatal electric shocks: · The rating of the local power supply must tally completely with the details given on the rating plate of the appliance. [. . . ] Time has been reached, the appliance must be switched off until the motor has cooled itself down. Items supplied Electric Knife 1 Stainless steel knife blade 1 Stainless steel freezer-knife blade 2 Protective sheaths Instructions for use Appliance description q Blade insert slot w Blade release button e On/Off switch r Safety switch t Power cable with power plug y Freezer-knife blade u Universal knife blade i Finger protection grip -3- Operation Inserting the blades Important: Hold the blades with the finger protection grips i only. Select the blade suitable for the task to be done: · The universal knife blade u with the coarse, short teeth for cooked meats (without bones), cooked poultry, bread, cakes, filled bread rolls, fruit (without pips or stones) and vegetables. · The freezer-knife blade y with the long teeth for lightly frozen or partly thawed foodstuffs, but not for fully deep-frozen foodstuffs. Important: NEVER try to cut through bones. 1: Abb. 1 Notice: NEVER use two different blades at the same time. Should you do so, the electric knife will not cut correctly and it could be irreparably damaged. Hold the blades y/u with the finger protection grips i and insert them into the blade insert slot q. The blades y/u must engage audibly. -4- Cutting foodstuffs Important: ALWAYS cut away from the body, NEVER towards the body. At the same time, press the safety switch r with the other fingers. Note: The electric knife only runs when the On/Off switch e and the safety switch r are pressed at the same time. Guide the blade y/u through the foodstuff to be cut. Important: Never operate the electric knife for longer than 15 minutes without a break. When the 15 minutes of continuous use is reached, leave the appliance switched off until the motor has cooled down completely. Release the safety switch r and the On/Off switch e when the cutting task has been completed. Removing the blades 1. To remove the blades y/u from the blade insert slot q, firmly hold the blades by the finger protection grips i. Carefully remove the blades y/u from the blade insert slot q. -5- Cleaning Important: Before cleaning, ALWAYS remove the power plug t from the wall socket and the blades y/u from the appliance. Important: NEVER submerse the motor block in water. For stubborn soiling, apply some mild detergent to the cloth. Important: Do not use aggressive or chemical cleansers for cleaning.
