[. . . ] UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you operate the appliance on a 230 V mains supply when the voltage selector switch is set at 120 V (or vice-versa). Make enquiries about the rating of the local electrical mains supply from the energy supplier or the hotel personnel. First when this has been done insert the plug into a power socket and then switch the appliance on. [. . . ] NEVER take the water boiler into use if the electrical connections are wet resp. ­ the appliance itself, the power cable and the plug 4 are in a serviceable condition, and, . For safety reasons, the lid 1 should not be opened while the water is boiling or is very hot. Do not consume any water that has already stood in the water boiler for longer than one hour. If necessary, adjust the voltage selector switch 5 to the correct setting. Only in this way can you correctly read the interior markings in the water boiler. Fill the water boiler to no further than the MAX marking, to ensure that no boiling water splashes out. ALWAYS remove the plug from the mains socket before pouring water from the appliance! Fill the appliance with water up to the MAX marking and let it come to a full boil once ­ as described in the next section. It can happen that the control lamp 6 glows immediately, as soon as you connect the appliance with the mains power source. This means that the On switch 2 was already pressed down when the connection was made. Therefore, always check that the control lamp 6 is glowing, this shows that it is heating up. The appliance switches itself off and the control lamp 6 goes out as soon as the water is on the boil. Never submerse any parts of the appliance in water or other liquids!This can create the risk of a life-threatening electrical shock if residual liquid comes into contact with powered components. Clean the outside surfaces and the power cable 4 with a slightly damp dish cloth. [. . . ] In the case of a warranty claim, please make contact by telephone with our service department.
