[. . . ] The default value for the ramp time is 15 seconds. 61 5. 8 PROGRAMMING: Starter Setup - Reverse2 Profile Coast Time Description The Coast Time parameter sets the time the starter will "coast" with no power applied to the motor if a change of direction is made while the starter is running. Caution must be taken when setting a short coast time and a high initial current. The starter will begin to apply power in the opposite direction once the coast time has expired and the high initial current setting will cause a high torque on the motor shaft. The coast time is adjustable from 0 to 90 seconds in 1 second increments. The default value for the coast time is 1 second. Values Default Kick Curr. (kick current) Description The kick current parameter is set as a percentage of the motor FLA parameter setting. The kick current sets a current level that overrides the current ramp profile, for the set kick time, when a start is commanded. If a kick time is programmed, the starter will provide the current level specified by the kick current setting for this set time. This current can be used to overcome the break over torque of some loads, while still allowing the starter to smoothly accelerate the load to full speed. The default value for the kick current is 300%. Values Default Kick Time Description The kick time parameter sets the amount of time that the kick current level is provided to the motor when a start is commanded. If the kick time is set to any time other than Off, the starter will provide the kick current level for the set time. The kick time should be increased or decreased to reach the time required to begin rotating the load. Values The kick time is adjustable from 0. 1 to 10. 0 seconds in 0. 1 second intervals. If a kick current is not required, the kick time should be set to Off. The default value for the kick time is Off. Default 62 5. 9 PROGRAMMING: Starter Setup - Jog Cntrl Setup Jog Curr. (jog current) Description The jog current parameter is set as a percentage of the motor FLA parameter setting. The jog current parameter is used to set the maximum current that will reach the motor while the motor is being operated in the jog at set speed mode. It should be set to the lowest possible current level that will still operate the motor. When a motor is operating in the jog at set speed mode, its cooling capability is greatly reduced. Therefore, the running time of the motor is dependant on the motor current. If the jog at set speed will be used on a regular basis, the motor temperature should be monitored using a thermostat. The thermostat can be connected between the power and input terminal 1 of the JC13 terminal block on the RediStart Micro II computer card so that the starter will trip when a fault occurs.
