Because two PCs are involved, MaxiVista is a package of two software programs: 1. The Server Program on the Primary PC which viewing range you would like to extend 2. [. . . ] This can be done in MaxiVista Configuration Network settings If you use a Firewall, Router or switch, please make sure that following ports are open: UDP Port on the Secondary PC 5999 6000 TCP Port on the Primary PC 5950 5951 Demo version Full version - , 7 8 $ 26 $ Following procedure is only required if you have activated the built-in firewall of Windows XP: Right-click My Network Places on the Primary PC desktop Properties Right-click the network adapter which connects to the Secondary PC Properties tab Advanced Settings. . . Enter following information: Description: "TCP 5950", IP address: The network adapter IP address of the Primary PC which connects to the Secondary PC, External and Internal port: 5950 (or 5951, if using the MaxiVista full version), check TCP confirm with OK: On the Secondary PC, right-click My Network Places Properties Right-click the network adapter which connects to the Primary PC Properties tab Advanced Settings. . . Enter following information: Description: "UDP 5999", IP address: The network adapter IP address of the Secondary PC which connects to the Primary PC, External and Internal port: 5999 (or 6000, if using the MaxiVista full version), Enable UDP confirm with OK: Page 5 of 12 If using a different firewall, please refer to its documentation for information how to release UDP/TCP ports. 8 4 -$ , . You must purchase a license for each installation of MaxiVista on your site. Not only because of the license policy, but also for an important technical reason: For each license key, the MaxiVista installation dynamically creates an unique pair of Server and Viewer Programs. This mechanism ensures that multiple Viewer Programs on the same network show the screen's contents of its corresponding Server Program. A Viewer Program created by the MaxiVista installation using license key `A' cannot be used together with a Server Program with the license key `B'! To uninstall MaxiVista click Start Programs MaxiVista Uninstall MaxiVista on both PCs. If using the full version of MaxiVista (vs. the demo) the Viewer Program is removed by simply deleting the single program file. There will be no traces left on the Secondary PC A reboot is required on the Primary PC to remove the virtual graphics adapter driver Afterwards you may check whether the program folder c:/program files/MaxiVista has been removed. If the virtual graphics adapter driver is not removed, you can do this manually: Right-click the My Computer icon on your Windows desktop Select Properties tab Hardware Device Manager double-click Display adapters. If the MaxiVista driver is still listed, right-click on it and select Uninstall and reboot the system. Page 6 of 12 '$ ( 1 () , " . " To deactivate the Secondary Display either. . . · · · · · Select Disable Secondary Display from the Server Program menu Double-click on the Server Program taskbar icon Select Exit from the pop-up menu to quit the Server or the Viewer Program. The only disadvantage is that if you want to re-activate the Secondary Display it will take longer for the Server Program to find the viewer program on the network again Shut-down the Secondary PC or pull out the network cable. " You can set the location of the Secondary PC monitor in the standard Windows Display Properties dialog: Right-click your Windows desktop Select Properties tab Settings and arrange the monitor icons corresponding to your setup: When selecting a certain location and screen resolution, the secondary display switches to Portrait mode. If you enable the option Rotate 180° in the MaxiVista configuration, the screen will be rotated by an additional 180°. Combining both options allows setting any orientation of 0°, 90°, 180° and 270° (. . , " . "9 The frame rate depends on the selected screen resolution, color depth, the network connection bandwidth and amount of changing screen content. Follow these hints to optimize the performance of MaxiVista: · · · · · Select a Windows desktop background with a single color instead of a image pattern or a photo (Rightclick your Windows desktop Select Properties Tab Background Choose None (the first selection) as your wallpaper Reduce other network traffic when MaxiVista is active. avoid transferring large files between the connected PCs Router/Switches and Firewalls between Server and Secondary PC may also decrease the speed. with a cross-over ethernet cable (refer to www. maxivista. com/lan. htm) Use a lower color depth and lower Secondary Display resolution.
