[. . . ] We have drawn up this manual to show you all the features of your motorcycle. You will also discover features, details and devices which will reassure you that you have made the right choice. [. . . ] If exhaust noise increases, take your vehicle at once to an Official aprilia Dealership. - SEQUENTIAL - AUTO-DRIVE 03_23 In SEQUENTIAL mode , transmission changes are controlled by the rider. In sequential mode, the gear can be shifted by activating the handlebar controls, or with the traditional pedal without having to activate the clutch. The pedal is the traditional method; it is rapid in situations where one needs to quickly downshift and is mainly used in the semi-automatic mode. The buttons are quicker to activate and it is not necessary to decrease acceleration during gear shifting. When the transmission is in sequential mode, the words SPORT GEAR appear on the panel and the gear number. SPORT GEAR mode does not place any limits on power, and is suitable for sport riding. When the transmission is in AUTODRIVE mode, during braking or deceleration, it is possible to use an additional mode: SEMIAUTOMATIC mode. This mode can be used when the rider wants to downshift more than one gear, or wishes to have more engine braking during emergency braking or particular maneuvers. When in AUTO-DRIVE mode, if the GEAR DOWN button is activated, the transmission goes into semiautomatic mode. In this case, in addition to the word DRIVE, the gear in use is also displayed. 03_25 When in semiautomatic mode , if the throttle lever is not excessively rotated , it is possible to downshift by repeatedly pressing the GEAR DOWN button. When the operation is finished, the vehicle will continue to function in semiautomatic mode. The AUTO-DRIVE system has three different mappings: - SPORT - TOURING - RAIN 03_26 SPORT mode offers the most power: the engine is always at a high RPM, the gear change is rapid, and the engine braking is at the maximum. TOURING mode is intended for touring use of the vehicle, hence RPM is lower than in SPORT mode, with less vibration and lowered fuel consumption. RAIN mode is ideal for urban use and to increase safety on driving surfaces with low traction. This is not an anti-sliding system, simply a softer management of gear changes, in order to avoid problems with take off, using reduction in the power provided at lower engine speeds. Changing between the various modes and settings is done by activating the GEAR MODE button. To change transmission mode, it is necessary to press and hold down the GEAR MODE button for at least 1 second. To change the setting, it is necessary to press and hold down the GEAR MODE button for a time that goes between 0. In particular, setting changes in automatic mode follow this pattern: TOURING - SPORT - RAIN - TOURING When in SEQUENTIAL mode, the gear inserted is displayed in the center of the display. 03_35 In SEQUENTIAL mode, if a gear shift is requested when it is not possible, "! [. . . ] During transport the vehicle must be well secured in an upright position and first gear must be engaged, to avoid fuel and oil leaks. Check that vertical oscillation at the middle point between pinion and crown on the lower part of the chain is of about 1. Move the vehicle forward so as to check vertical oscillation in other positions too. The clearance should remain constant during all wheel rotation phases. [. . . ]
