[. . . ] - 79 - Surfing the internet Navigation The e-m@iler is factory-set to Narrow Screen Navigation. (To select Wide Screen Navigation, see Advanced settings page 142. ) The following instructions show you how to navigate around the screen and select and adjust items. To go to a particular site, you can navigate via links (described ahead) to get to the page you want. To navigate, use the up and down arrow buttons SELECT. UD and On sites displaying many links within the page, you will find it quicker to move page up and page down using "SHIFT and U D. On some sites, you may need to adjust a highlighted item to do this use the left and right arrow buttons L R and SELECT. Often you will use U D and SELECT to highlight and select a 'button' on the screen. When you move to a button it will be highlighted either as # (un-selected) or ) (selected). Note, if you've selected Wide Screen Navigation (described on page 142), some of the page will be located off-screen to the left or right. You can view these areas of the screen using "SHIFT and L (left) or "SHIFT and R (right). or At the bottom right of the screen, symbols such as show you which way you can move. Notes If you know the address of the site, you can type it in and go there directly (information on page 84). Alternatively, you can select the site on your favourites menu (information on page 88). If the page that won't display is one for which you typed in the address yourself, go back and carefully check that the address is accurate including the correct use of small and capital letters. If you receive the message (Web)Site Not Found, the most likely reason is that there's no such page address, or that you haven't selected the correct )Internet or )Mobile Internet option. To go back to previous page To go back to where you were, press STOP. Alternatively you can go back to the previous screen or page by selecting lBackl or . If there is no previous page to go back to, pressing STOP will have no effect. (The Amsurf menu will remain displayed. ) Note on some pages you may need to press STOP twice rapidly to go back to the previous page. If you find that you can't move away from a page, simply press INTERNET to go back to the Amsurf menu. Automatic time-out If there is no internet activity for about 10 minutes, the e-m@iler will time-out and go offline automatically. Note that the current page will remain displayed after automatic time-out (although the will change to offline ). Therefore, if you have stopped surfing online symbol for a while and notice that the e-m@iler is offline ( ), simply continue surfing and the e-m@iler will go back online ( ) when necessary. After the e-m@iler has timed-out, you may still be able to view offline the last few pages you visited these are stored in the e-m@iler's temporary memory. If you select a different page, however, the e-m@iler will make a new surfing call and go online again will change back to ).
