[. . . ] Altec Lansing octivTM AIR Wireless Speaker System for iPod® M812 User Guide The lightning flash with arrowhead, within an equilateral triangle, is intended to alert the user to the presence of uninsulated "dangerous voltage" within the product's enclosure that may be of sufficient magnitude to constitute a risk of electric shock to persons. Caution: To prevent the risk of electric shock, do not remove cover (or back). Refer servicing to qualified service personnel. The exclamation point within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert the user to the presence of important operating and maintenance (servicing) instructions in the literature accompanying the appliance. Safety Information CAUTION To prevent electric shock do not use this (polarized) plug with an extension cord, receptacle or other outlet unless the blades can be fully inserted to prevent blade exposure WARNING To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not expose this appliance to rain or moisture. Do not use this apparatus near water ­ This apparatus shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing, and no objects filled with liquids, such as vases, shall be placed on the apparatus. The apparatus should not be situated on a bed, sofa, rug or similar surface that may block the ventilation openings. [. . . ] Power and Input Selection To turn on the M812, press the STANDBY key on the transmitter base or the POWER key on the side of the speaker or the remote control. Select iPod, FM or AUX by pressing the input selector on the speaker or using the remote control. iPod With your iPod docked in the transmitter base, turn on your iPod. (You can also press on the iPod itself. ) FM or on the remote To change the radio tuning, press or the TUNE +/­ keys on the speaker. To PRESET a station, tune to the desired frequency, then press and hold the desired PRESET key on the remote until PRESET shows on the speaker display. 4 Basic Controls and Functions Wireless Speaker Side Panel 1 1 VOLUME +/­ Raises and lowers the volume. POWER Switches the power mode between Standby and On. 2 2 3 3 4 4 Bottom Panel 1 1 2 LOCATION: WALL / TABLE This switch adjusts the sound to provide the best listening experience dependent upon whether the speaker is positioned on a table top or mounted to the wall. MODE: L / STEREO / R Sets mode for use as a stereo, left or right speaker. Left or right mode is used when an additional speaker is connected in the same room. The factory default is STEREO. 2 Display 1 1 1 2 2 DISPLAY Displays selected source, FM frequency and menu information. The display will automatically dim six seconds after the last key has been pressed on the speaker unit or remote control. IR SENSOR IR receiving sensor for use with supplied IR remote control. 2 5 Transmitter Base Front Panel 1 STANDBY / ON Switches the power mode between Standby and On for the transmitter base. This light (left of the STANDBY key) illuminates when the transmitter base is on. SYNC 1 LED Illuminates to indicate that the transmitter base is synchronized with one wireless speaker unit. SYNC 2 LED Illuminates when two or more M812 wireless speaker units are connected and synchronized with the transmitter base. Any speaker that is synchronized can control the system. 2 1 2 3 3 Rear Panel 1 2 3 1 AUX Connect auxiliary devices (e. g. , portable CD players) to 3. 5 mm stereo, line-level input jack using supplied cable. Connect only the adapter supplied with the M812. 2 3 6 Remote Control 1 2 1 STANDBY/ON key Turns on the M812 or places it in standby mode. MASTER VOL +/­ keys Press to adjust the volume of several speakers when they are all synchronized with the transmitter base. If you have only one speaker, these keys operate the same as +/­ keys on the ring of controls on the lower part of the remote and the volume controls on the side of the speaker. BASS +/­ keys Adjusts the bass tones of the speaker up or down from -6 to +6 decibels. TREBLE +/­ keys Adjusts the treble tones of the speaker up or down from -6 to +6 decibels. (FR/FF) keys For iPod: ·Pressoncetomovetothepreviousornexttrack. [. . . ] Lower the volume level of the M812 by using the supplied remote control or the VOLUME ­ key on the speaker. Disable the EQ function of the iPod or turn down the bass on the M812. Ensure the WALL/TABLE switch on the bottom of the M812 is set to the proper position. The M812 will automatically reset itself after a short period of time. [. . . ]
