[. . . ] The apparatus must not be placed in a built-in installation, such as a closed bookcase or cabinet that may impede the flow of air through the ventilation openings. Ventilation should not be impeded by covering the openings with items such as newspapers, tablecloths, curtains, etc. Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat. No naked flame sources, such as lighted candles, should be placed on the apparatus. [. . . ] 3 Set up and basic operation Set Up The wireless capabilities of the M812 make it easy and flexible to set up. The transmitter base can be located up to 100 feet from the speaker, so you can place speakers for best sound and the base for convenient access. See the M812 Quick Start Guide for step-by-step instructions for quick set up of your M812 system. In this booklet, you'll find more detail on connections and operation. After making connections, turn on the speaker(s) first and then turn on the power to the transmitter base. This allows the base and speaker(s) to synchronize more Wireless Connectivity The transmitter base and speaker can communicate over three wireless radio frequency (RF) channels. In AUTO, the transmitter base looks for and transmits on the most interference-free of the three channels. It is possible that the speaker and base may lose their synchronized connection from time to time. If you experience interference or lose the connection between speaker and transmitter base, you can force the M812 to re-synchronize. To do so, press and hold down the STANDBY key on the transmitter base. Toggles between play and pause modes each time it is pressed. 7 Advanced Operation Multi-Speaker Systems With a single transmitter base, you can transmit audio to as many as eight wireless speakers. Speakers can be set to standard stereo mode or to serve as pairs of left and right speakers. By adding speakers to your system, you can create separate listening areas served by one or more speakers. When you power up a multi-speaker system, turn on the speakers first and then turn on the power to the transmitter base. If one or more speakers fail to synchronize or synchronization is lost during operation, you must re-synchronize the system. To re-synchronize the transmitter base with the speaker(s), press and hold the STANDBY key on the transmitter base. After three seconds, the LED to the left of the STANDBY key will begin to flash. Continue to hold down the STANDBY key until the LED stops flashing (about six seconds). Settings Menu The settings menu of the M812 allows you to adjust setup functions, such as RF channel, and audio functions, such as bass and treble. Channels are not synchronized. If using an alternate audio source, the audio source is not properly connected to the M812 or there is a problem with the alternate audio source. There is a crackling sound coming from the speaker. 10 Troubleshooting Symptom There is a crackling sound coming from the speaker (when connected to PC or laptop). Possible Problem The operating system's volume level is set too high. The M812's volume level is set too high. Solution Check the operating system volume level and decrease it if necessary. [. . . ]
