E1 IMPORTANT NOTES Avoid installing this unit in places exposed to direct sunlight or close to heat radiating appliances such as electric heaters, on top of other stereo equipment that radiates too m u ch h ea t, p lac e s lac k ing ventilation or dusty areas, places subject to constant vibration and/ or humid or moist areas. Do not attempt to clean this unit with chemical solvents as this might damage the finish. [. . . ] Do not mix different types of batteries, or old batteries with new ones. USING THE REMOTE CONTROLLER CORRECTLY Point the remote controller at the Remote Sensor. The functions of the buttons on the remote control are the same as the corresponding controls on the main unit. When there is a strong ambient light source, the performance of the infrared Remote Sensor may be degraded, causing unreliable operation. The maximum effective distance for remote control operation is about 15 feet. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 16 15 14 13 12 11 E5 GENERAL OPERATION Power Press the POWER on and off. POWER STANDBY Volume Raise or lower volume level. Phones For personal listening, insert the right plug from a pair of stereo headphones (not supplied) into the jack mentioned PHONES at the back of the unit. Aux Insert the AUX facility's plug into the R/L jacks indicated at the back of the unit. PHONES VOLUME VOLUME Mega Bass Press MEGA BASS button for enhanced bass output. MEGA BASS ON OFF AUX IN R L TO SET THE TIME AT ANY MODE 1. Press MEMORY button again. E6 GENERAL OPERATION TO SET THE TIMER AT POWER OFF MODE. The unit will be on at the time you set. CAUTION The product shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing & that no objects filled with liquids, such as vases, shall be placed on the product. The normal ventilation of the product shall not be impeded for intended use. E7 COMPACT DISC OPERATION NORMAL PLAY 1. Use the FUNCTION button to select the CD player (CD). FUNCTION 2. Press CD DOOR OPEN button to open the CD door, and place the CD into the CD compartment. OPEN 3. To stop the play, press STOP button. STOP E8 COMPACT DISC OPERATION (continued) NOTES: If a disc is loaded upside down or if no dis is loaded, the word " - - " will show on the display panel. Opening the CD compartment lid while a CD is playing could scratch the disc. Always press the STOP button and wait for the disc to stop rotating before opening the CD compartment lid. Always place the compact disc in the CD compartment with the label facing up. Fingerprints and dust should be carefully wiped from the disc's signal surface (opposite the label side) with a soft cloth. Gently wipe in a straight motion from the inside to the outside of the disc. Discs should be returned to their cases after use to avoid serious scratches witch could cause the player to skip. Do not expose a disc to direct sunlight, high humidity or high temperatures for extended periods of time to prevent warping the disc. Do not apply paper or write anything on either side of the compact disc. [. . . ] (2) Tune in a station by pressing the up or down tuning button on the front of the unit. The tuner will search up or down the selected band and stop at the next receivable station. When scanning stops, the frequency of the received station will be displayed. SEARCH FM ST The FM Stereo indicator (ST) will appear on the LCD display panel when on FM Stereo broadcast is received.
