Partitioned System If your system is part of a Partitioned System, it can share one physical alarm system between two different users, each with their own requirements (e. g. , the occupants of a two family house). When so-configured, each partition operates independently of the other, but from time to time display messages may appear temporarily on a console which indicate the other partition is in use (e. g. , during testing by an installer). Do not be concerned, This is normal. In the event of an emergency, the strategically located smoke and heat detectors will automatically send signals to your system, triggering a loud, interrupted sound from the Console. An interrupted sound will also be produced by optional exterior sounders. A FIRE message will appear at your Console and remain on until you silence the alarm. [. . . ] The most common cause of an alarm system not functioning when an intrusion or fire occurs is inadequate maintenance. This alarm system should be tested weekly to make sure all sensors and transmitters are working properly. Wireless transmitters (used with some systems) are designed to provide long battery life under normal operating conditions. Longevity of batteries may be as much as 4 to 7 years, depending on the environment, usage, and the specific wireless device being used. [. . . ]
