[. . . ] Advanced Chipset Features Setup Menu The Advanced Chipset Features Setup Menu is used to modify the contents of the buffers in the chipset on the motherboard. Since the parameters of the buffers are closely related to hardware, if the setup is not correct or is false, the motherboard will become unstable or you will not be able to boot up. If you don't know the hardware very well, use default values (i. e. The only time you might consider making any changes is if you discover that data is being lost while using your system. Figure 3-6. Advanced Chipset Features Setup Screen Shot You can use the arrow keys to move between the items. When you have finished setting up the chipset, press Esc to go back to the main menu. The default timings have been carefully chosen and should only be altered if data is being lost. Such a scenario might well occur if your system has mixed speed DRAM chips installed so that greater delays may be required to preserve the integrity of the data held in the slower memory chips. SDRAM CAS Latency Time: Two options are available: 2 and 3. You can select SDRAM CAS (Column Address Strobe) latency time according your SDRAM specification. User's Manual 3-20 Chapter3 SDRAM Cycle Time Tras/Trc: Two options are available: 5/7 and 6/8. This item controls the number of SDRAM clocks (SCLKs) used per access cycle. SDRAM RAS-to-CAS Delay Two options are available: 2 and 3. This item lets you insert a timing delay between the CAS and RAS strobe signals, used when DRAM is written to, read from, or refreshed. Fast gives faster performance; and Slow gives more stable performance. This item applies only when synchronous DRAM is installed in the system. SDRAM RAS Precharge Time: Two options are available: 2 and 3. This option lets you insert a timing delay between the CAS and RAS strobe signals, used when DRAM is written to, read from, or refreshed. Fast gives faster performance; and Slow gives more stable performance. This item applies only when synchronous DRAM is installed in the system. System BIOS Cacheable: You can select Enabled or Disabled. When you select Enabled allows caching of the system BIOS ROM at F0000h-FFFFFh, resulting in better system performance. However, if any program writes to this memory area, a system error may result. Video BIOS Cacheable: You can select Enabled or Disabled. When you select Enabled allows caching of the video BIOS, resulting in better system performance. However, if any program writes to this memory area, a system error may result. Memory Hole At 15M-16M: Two options are available: Enabled and Disabled. This option is used to reserve the memory block 15M-16M for ISA adapter ROM. Some special peripherals need to use a memory block located between 15M and 16M, and this memory block has a size of 1M. [. . . ] procedure, press SHIFT (BY-PASS) key, to skip CONFIG. If the system starts and does not reset, you can be sure that the problem is due to the Sound Card Driver. Note down the Sound Card model, motherboard model, BIOS identification number on the technical support file (refer to main instructions), and describe the problem in the space provided. [. . . ]
