STEP 2 Polishing Preconditioning The buff pad only needs to be conditioned when it is new. To condition the buff pad, apply "chocolate chip"-sized drops of the appropriate polish to the valleys on the buff pad. After the polish has been applied to the buff pad, fold the pad in half and apply pressure. Open the pad and rotate 90°, then fold buff pad in half again and apply pressure. Polishing A. Apply a small drop of 3MTM Finesse-itTM Polish - Extra Fine on the sanded area. Spread the polish evenly over the spot using the buffing pad, without running the buffer. Use a random orbital buffer, such as a DynabradeTM DynabufferTM, and a 3MTM Finesse-itTM Buffing Pad. Wipe the area clean with a Scotch-BriteTM High Performance Cloth. Polishing tips & techniques · Start the tool on the work surface. The Dynabuffer air line pressure needs to be set at 80 to 85 psi while the tool is running. · Polish with a downward force not to exceed 5 lbs (the tool weighs 3 lbs). · If polish is being slung outside of the repair area, either too much polish is being used or not enough downward force is being applied. Reduce the amount of polish being applied or slightly increase the downward force being applied.
